Peugeot Geode
Peugeot Geode is a concept car we designed for Peugeot following the directive : "Imagine Peugeot in 2040".
The result is a car fully focused on the user experience to offer the thrill of driving in a world where autonomous cars and other means of locomotion have replaced the need to drive.
We decided to make the interior fully panoramic and allow for augmented reality support; I worked on designing the AR applications that would reinforce the intended experience, and the design of the network in order to encourage interesting user interactions.
What went right
What went wrong
What I learned
Our team consisted of 2 game designers, 2 designers specialized in vehicles, 1 graphist in the animation movie field and another in the game field : we managed to benefit from each other's strong points.
Another success was that I managed to flesh out a lot of all the augmented reality applications (mainly focused on exploration and race), to a point where it was a reasonable expectation of what the future could look like.
We focused a lot on imagining a realistic 2040, while Peugeot asked us to imagine 2040 without expecting us to deliver something doable, and more like a concept car.
While we were satisfied with the result, we could have used this opportunity to go far crazier.
Overall, this project broadened my perception of Game design :
I learned that game design is usable at any place where we want to sollicit a certain behaviour, using "player" motivation (in this example, discovering the joys of driving, exploring and sharing the experience with other people).
I also learned a lot in other fields than game making from other team members.
